Bowyer, BB&T Chevy Lock up Title with Top Five at Homestead Race/Date: Ford 300 – November 15, 2008 - Location: Homestead-Miami Speedway – Homestead, Fla. - Start Position: 13th - Finish Position: Fifth - Final Points Standing: First HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Clint Bowyer and the BB&T Racing team locked up the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship with a fifth-place finish in Saturday night’s Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Bowyer edged second-place and eventual race winner Carl Edwards by a narrow 21-point margin en route to his first Nationwide Series championship. The Emporia, Kan., native led the point standings in NASCAR’s No. 2 division for 29 consecutive weeks and didn’t finish worse than 25th in any race this season. While Edwards was a frequent winner, Bowyer and his Dan Deeringhoff-led BB&T race team used consistency and strong finishes to capture the title. Bowyer, Jack Daniel’s Chevy Cap off Year with Top
Race/Date: Ford 400 – Nov. 16, 2008 - Location: Homestead-Miami Speedway – Homestead, Fla. - Start Position: 27th - Finish Position: Fifth Homestead, Fla. – Clint Bowyer and the Jack Daniel’s Racing team capped off 2008 in fine fashion with a fifth-place finish in Sunday’s Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The top-five finish, Bowyer’s seventh of the year, was also enough to vault Mr. Jack’s Crew up one spot, to fifth, in the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship point standings. BB&T TO SPONSOR BOWYER, RCR’S NO. 33 CHEVROLET All-Star Race Also Tabled for Winston-Salem, N.C.-Based Financial Institution WELCOME, N.C. (Nov. 11, 2008) – BB&T Corporation and Richard Childress Racing have agreed to an 11-race sponsorship for RCR’s No. 33 Chevrolet with driver Clint Bowyer for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. In addition to 10 points races, BB&T will also be the primary sponsor on Bowyer’s No. 33 machine for the annual Sprint Cup Series all-star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May. The March 8 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway will mark the first of three consecutive races for BB&T, followed by four in a row starting at Talladega in April and wrapping up with the all-star festivities in Charlotte. In September, BB&T will be showcased again in Atlanta and at Dover for the first of three Chase for the Sprint Cup races. Bowyer’s No. 33 Impala SS will also feature a burgundy and gold BB&T paint scheme at Martinsville and Talladega next fall. Read More!
